Helping Restore the Whangateau Harbour
At Rochford Landscapes, we believe in making a real, tangible difference on the ground. That is why we are proud to have joined the Whangateau Catchment Collective, and why we are inviting our community to plant alongside us.
This has been a truly collaborative effort, made possible by the Whangateau Catchment Collective, Matakana Landscape Supplies, Nature's Vision and Auckland Parks.

We are planting 5,700 native plants and we would love a hand from the community.

Why we are doing this
For us, this is about giving back. We have committed to donating 1% of our annual profit to revegetating the Whangateau catchment. In a practical sense, we do that by physically buying the plants with that money, and we are also committing to preparing and maintaining the area those plants will cover.
So let's say our donation comes to $3,000 a year. That might buy 300 plants, which could cover around 4,000m². So in any given year, Rochford Landscapes could be responsible for revegetating and maintaining 4,000m² and up.
How the partnership works
The Whangateau Catchment Collective does the groundwork. They secure sensitive catchment land, work alongside landowners and tie it all together, cutting through the red tape that comes with it. Then we step in and do what we are good at, which is direct action.
As Todd puts it: "I've always wanted to make a tangible difference on the ground. A big area is made up of thousands of smaller ones, and if we can support regeneration on just one of those areas, we're helping move the catchment project forward physically, while also creating a model others can follow."
