Algies Bay

Set against the pristine ocean views of Algies Bay, the property allows occupants to enjoy the gardens and ocean, with spaces that move with the sun throughout the day.

Landscape designer Erin Farrow and Rochford Landscapes worked collaboratively to create a landscape that is functional, built to last, and designed for memories to be made. The following three key elements are drawn from an interview with Erin, highlighting the intentions behind the design.

Sea Site Access

A key feature of the landscape is the grand Macrocarpa steps that gracefully wind down to the beach. Thoughtfully designed and built, they serve as both a functional access point and a striking visual element, seamlessly connecting the upper garden to the lower beach landing. Planting was chosen to soften the edges and complement the view, creating a space where the client can walk down with friends for years to come.

Seasonal Colour

As a new build with retaining walls and bare sections, the gardens soften hard edges while introducing seasonal colour and year-round interest. Coastal planting, including flaxes, star jasmine, and hydrangeas, creates a layered, textured landscape that is both beautiful and private from the street.

Front Garden Space

The Hampton-inspired courtyard creates a relaxed, right-on-the-water vibe, featuring layered planting in a palette of whites, blues, and greens. All planting was selected to thrive in coastal conditions.

This project was a pleasure to deliver alongside Erin Farrow, and most importantly, the client was thrilled with the outcome. With time, the garden has continued to settle and grow, adding even more value to their investment.
